Research Analyst (Analysis) Qualification
(RS) Part I
The Series 86 Research Analyst exam is the "Analysis" (or Part 1) portion of the
Series 86/87 exam series. Passing this series of exams qualifies an individual
to be a research analyst at NYSE and FINRA(NASD) member firms. Anyone who meets the
definition as a research analyst under FINRA(NASD) / NYSE rules must sit for this exam.
A "research analyst" is essentially a person who is responsible for the
preparation of the substance of the report and / or whose name appears on the
research report.The Series 7 exam (or the
17, 37, or 38 if the situation
applies) is a prerequisite to sit for this exam.

A candidate who has passed Level I and Level II of the Charter Financial
Analyst (CFA) Exam may request an exemption from the Series 86 Exam. We
do not have study materials for the Series
86
